Ja, så lät det på vår kryssning. Utanför alla matsalar och restauranger stod det en vänlig leende filippinsk anställd med spritsprayflaskan i högsta hugg. Det fanns inte en chans att komma undan. Lägg till ett antal hundra automater med sprit på fartygets väggar och du är nära verkligheten. Skyltar fanns överallt som gjorde det tydligt att vid minsta symptom på diarré och kräkningar så skulle man kontakta sjukstugan för gratis bedömning och inte lämna hytten. Och förstås skyltar som uppmanade till handtvätt.
Om det funkar? Vet inte, men rederiet har tydligen högsta betyg i alla hygienbedömningar av klassningsorganisationerna. Och sjuka blev vi inte. Det finns det andra som blivit. På andra fartyg.
Men ropet genljöd över fartyget. Washie, washie! Happy, happy! Och på personalens show var handtvättarna de stora stjärnorna. Smiley, smiley!

That was the soundtrack of the cruise. Outside all restaurants you found a smiling Philippine crew member with the sanitizer spray bottle ready. There was no chance of escaping. Add to this a few hundred automatic sanitizers mounted on the ship's walls and you are close to reality. Signs were posted everywhere making it clear that if you had the smallest symptom of diarrhea or vomiting you should contact the doctor's office for a free assessment and not leave your stateroom. Of course there were also signs encouraging you to wash your hands.
Did it work? I don't know, but the shipping company apparently receive the highest hygiene ratings in the reviews. And we did not get sick. There are others that were, though, on other ships.
And the voices rung through the ship Washie, washie! Happy, happy! And at the staff show the sanitizer staff were the big stars. Smiley, smiley!
