På senaste tiden har jag handlat mycket på affären nere runt hörnet. Det är förstås inte så billigt. Man får betänka att det är en innerstadsaffär som har stans rikaste klientel. Och det är de förstås inte sena att utnyttja.
Idag tog jag bilen till stormarknaden alldeles efter att jag lämnat flickorna. Och det är verkligen billigt med mat här. Speciellt märks det på köttpriserna. Några exempel:
Rostbiff i bit (att helsteka i ugnen): 50 kronor kilot
Kycklingklubbor: 28 kronor kilot.
Grytbitar av nöt: 72 kronor kilot
Jag köpte blodpudding också, jag har inte sett det här i Montreal förut. Blodpudding med mjölk hette de och såg väl så där halvaptitliga ut i puckar men jag tror barnen blir glada. Vi får se.
Lately I have been shopping a lot at the supermarket around the corner. Of course shopping there is not so cheap. This considering it is an inner city supermarket with the richest clientele of the city. And they do take advantage of that.
Today I went with the car to one of the larger stores right after I dropped the girls off at school. And food is really not expensive here. Meat especially is inexpensive compared to Swedish prices. A few examples:
Roastbeef to prepare in the oven: 7 CAD per kilo.
Chicken drumsticks: 4 CAD per kilo.
Stewing beef: 9 CAD per kilo.
And guess what. I got blood pudding, which I have not seen in Montreal before. Blood pudding in milk. They didn't look that appetizing in some kind of pucks, but I think the kids will be happy. We will see.
